Mr. Cavaleri is a raw food proponent, and considers raw diets to be the “Gold Standard” for canine nutrition. The book also discusses approaches to obtaining optimal health with canned and dry food combined with supplements, and gives formulas and combinations for specific health and age related conditions. It should be noted that the author produces and markets his own brand of nutritional supplements.

The book is easy to read and the nutrition and fitness claims are well supported. Veterinarians such as myself who are comfortable with raw food and natural dietary supplements may recommend it to new dog owners or clients with an interest in holistic approaches to their pet’s health.”
